Computing Center

for Research and Technology

The Research and Technology Computing Center (CCRT - Centre de calcul pour la recherche et la technologie) has been set up to provide High Performance Computing resources for large scientific computations and to foster a real synergy between research organizations, universities and industry by promoting exchanges and scientific collaboration between partners. CCRT partners can benefit from a rich environment including HPC expertise and continuous technology watch performed by CEA teams.

CCRT increases its computing power

5 february 2019

The CCRT supercomputer “COBALT” has been upgraded in 2018 and 2019 to reach 2.4 PFlop / s. Installed in june 2016, COBALT has been used in a particularly strong way by all users of the CCRT. The increase of the current partners needs, as well as the foreseeable arrival of new industrialists at the CCRT motivated this extension. 10,080 cores from Intel Skylake processors (6148), were set up in a Atos SEQUANA cell, flagship of the Atos HPC range. Each of the 252 compute nodes has 192 GB of memory and communicates through an Infiniband EDR network.

In order to maintain dynamic exchanges between its partners, the CCRT organises annual conference, dedicated to users describing their scientific results, and technological workshops on innovating thematics (GPU or cell accelerators, Green IT, new programming algorithms, etc.).
