CEA Releases Robinhood 2.5

The Military Applications Department of the French Atomic Energy Commission (CEA/DAM) has developed since 2006 a policy engine named “Robinhood,” to deal with the growing amount of data and metadata on its HPC filesystems.

ETP4HPC signs agreement to form a Contractual Public-Private Partnership for European High-Performance Computing

This Agreement paves the way for a structured dialogue between the Public side (the EC) and the Private side (the ETP) in order to facilitate the achievement of research and investment objectives in the area of HPC technology provision, application development and sustainable HPC infrastructure. The EC’s financial contribution to this Horizon 2020 research programme is 700 million Euros (142 million in 2014-2015).

CEA to test new Aurora Tigon water-cooled HPC system

The Aurora module provided to CEA will be equipped with the new NVIDIA® Tesla® K40 GPU accelerators based on the NVIDIA Kepler™ architecture and, with delivery expected before the end of 2013, it will be the first European production installation using the new NVIDIA accelerators.

ETP4HPC - European Technology Platform for High Performance Computing - established by the European Commission as one of the recognised European Technology Platforms (ETPs).

As a result ETP4HPC, whose CEA is a founding member and holds a vice-chair, is now included in the list annexed to the strategy for European Technology Platforms - ETP 2020. This makes ETP4HPC a distinguished voice for the definition of European HPC priorities and related R&D&I programmes.

CEA/DIF winner of the EU Code of Conduct for Data Centre 2013 Annual Award for TERA 100 energy optimization approach

Designed and managed by the Joint Research Center of the European Commission, this Code of Conduct proposes general principles and practical actions to be followed by all UE data centres design and operation stakeholders.

This year, CEA/DIF is a winner of the CoC annual award, in the Participant category, for TERA 100 energy optimization – one of the 3 winners out of 180 members in this category.

TERA 100 demonstrated a combined approach of electrical equipment optimization, liquid-cooled high-density compute racks and a global measurement and real-time monitoring of energy consumption, which made possible important energy savings.

The prize was awarded on May 29th during DataCentres Europe 2013 Conference in Nice.

JCUIC  2013 have 30 years  - The «  Journées du Club des Utilisateurs de l’Informatique du CEA » took place at TGCC  on April 3 and 4, 2013

The « Club des Utilisateurs de l’Informatique du CEA » (CUIC, CEA Informatics User Club) has 30 ans. CEA/DIF hosted their biannual workshop on April 3 and 4, co-organised with CEA/DSI (CEA IT Direction) on Mobility & IT Security. 180 participants from all CEA as well as partners and providers took part in 2 days of presentations and panels, with also an exhibition with 14 providers organized in TERATEC Campus.

The Arcane numerical code framework for HPC first results from the CEA and IFP Energies Nouvelles co-development

A new version of the TemisFlow™ software, developed by the IFP Energies nouvelles (IFPEN) and dedicated to the oilfield modeling, has just been marketed by Beicip-Franlab, an IFPEN’s subsidiary. This software is based on the Arcane numerical code framework for HPC which is developed by both CEA and IFPEN.
