MPC v3.1.0 is available

MPC is a framework based on a user-thread scheduler targeting hybrid parallel programming. MPC provides its own MPI and OpenMP implementations, and is tightly integrated with other important HPC components like a parallel memory allocator.

The new version of MPC has been released today, it includes major updates relatively to the privatization support. First the TLS functionalities of MPC have been extracted in a separate library called the exTLS library, available in this distribution. Second, the MPC privatizing compiler now comes with a privatization plugin allowing most C programs to be transposed to user-level threads thanks to a support of dynamic initializers. This version also has its OpenMP support greatly improved by several bugfixes. Eventually, MPC now comes with a compiler selector command, allowing you to manage in a simpler way which compiler you want to use.

CEA/DAM was at TERATEC Forum

June 28 & 29, 2016, the 11th edition of TERATEC Forum welcomed more than 1200 attendees, highlighting the technological and industrial momentum of HPC and the essential role that France plays in this field. The participation and the testimony of senior industrial and ICT leaders, the diversity and the high level of the technical workshops, the representativeness of exhibitors and innovation offers displayed, were major assets for all managers concerned by simulation and high-performance computing.
CEA/DAM organized two of the Forum topical workshops:
Virtualization on high performance compute clusters with PCOCC”; “Simulation of materials in industrial environments : which prospects?”, and co-organised the “Specialized Architectures” workshop.

The Simulation Personality Award was given to Jean Gonnord, former head of the CEA/DAM digital simulation programme, who is heavily involved in the European HPC and Big Data plans.
