Maintenance periods

  • Once a year, a regulatory maintenance is performed on the electrical network of the datacenter. During this maintenance, the OpenStack service is shutdown along with the whole datacenter for 2 to 3 days. Running VMs will be automatically restarted after the maintenance unless this is prevented by user specified parameters.

  • Components of the OpenStack platform (Operating System, OpenStack components, firmwares…) are regularily updated along the year. These updates are generally transparent due to the highly available nature of this platform. However for some major upgrades of OpenStack or when upgrading some security equipments, a maintenance period is required and will be announced in advance.

Note

Applying scheduling constraints to VMs (i.e. servergroups) can in some cases prevent us from live migrating them. In case we need to perform a maintenance operation on a hypervisor node hosting such a VM we will either shutdown and restart your VM or remove the scheduling constraint depending on what’s more appropriate. You will be notified of such an event.
